Buffalo Film Seminars Goldenrod Handouts
Click on the film titles to download the PDF versions of the informational handouts Diane Christian and Bruce Jackson prepare for the weekly Buffalo Film Seminars discussions. Handouts are posted Monday night before the Tuesday screening. The handouts grew over time: the first season, they were mainly single sheets listing production credits; later, as we began including quotations from filmmakers, comments from critics, and stills from the films, they grew to four or five pages and then to six or seven pages.
The Spring 2007 series consisted of films selected by the audience for a repeat screening. With one exception, the Goldenrod Handouts for all those second screenings are updated from the first and therefore have a slightly different file title (e.g., the file for the Spring 2005 screening of Lawrence of Arabia is lawrence.pdf; the file for the Spring 2007 screening is lawrence2.pdf). The only film in the Spring 2007 series that has the same PDF file as its first screening is Triumph of the Will: the Spring 2000 file was lost, so the PDF for both screenings is the same.
The only other film shown twice in the series—Visconti's Il Gattopardo/The Leopard, which was screened Fall 2001 and Fall 2005—also has two PDF files.
Five files from the Fall 2004 series are missing—Odd Man Out, The Red Shoes, The Misfits, 8 1/2 and Hearts and Minds. We'll try to reconstruct those over the summer.
Goldenrod Handouts are posted to this web site the night before the scheduled screening.
